Octane Render is a real-time 3D unbiased rendering application developed by the New Zealand-based company Refractive Software. It is the first commercially available unbiased renderer to work exclusively on the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and has the ability to work in real time. This allows the user to change materials, lighting, and render settings on the fly with any changes made being reflected within the rendering viewport immediately.

Octane Render runs exclusively on Nvidia's CUDA technology, meaning that it runs only on Nvidia and not ATI video cards. Multiple cards can be used in conjunction using Nvidias SLI technology and an appropriate motherboard or GPU hub.
